The
Salt of the Earth

From Mount Hermon to the Dead Sea — The Beginning, The War, and the End

The Promised Land—so small in geography, yet so vast in spiritual significance. It has been the epicenter of ancient prophecies, the battleground of principalities, and the soil beneath divine covenants. But why this land? Why did God choose a stretch of territory surrounded by deserts, mountains, and conflict?

To answer this, we must remember the ancient truth:

As it was in the beginning, so it shall be in the end.” – (Ecclesiastes 1:9, echoed throughout prophecy)

The Geography of the Fall

Many believe the Garden of Eden was located in the Middle East, near the headwaters of the Tigris and Euphratesmodern-day Iraq. Others suggest Armenia or the greater Fertile Crescent, which aligns with the biblical mention of the Ark resting on Mount Ararat:

"Then the ark rested... on the mountains of Ararat."Genesis 8:4

North of that is the Caucasus, a barrier between realms, and directly south is Mount Hermonthe dark landmark where, according to the Book of Enoch, the Watchers, or fallen angels, descended and made a pact to corrupt mankind.

This unholy rebellion birthed the Nephilim, and their offspring polluted the land. This very region would become the future Land of Canaan, the inheritance God would promise to Abraham after a divine rescue from the first recorded war in Genesis 14.

The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is His name.”Exodus 15:3

Mount Hermon – Ground Zero of Corruption

Mount Hermon was more than geography. It was spiritual high ground for the enemy.

From Mount Hermon, the Jordan flows south to the lowest point on earth—the Dead Sea."

It is no coincidence that the place where the fallen descended is also the source of a river that ends in death and desolation. Yet, Jesus was baptized in this same river, just above the Dead Sea—a prophetic act of reversing the curse.

The Temptation and the Deal of the Kingdoms

When Jesus fasted for 40 days, the Spirit led Him into the wildernessnot a desert, but a mountainous, barren place, likely near Mount Hermon. Here Satan tempted Him:

Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world… ‘All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.’”Matthew 4:8–9

Notice: kingdoms, not the earthbecause the earth belongs to God (Psalm 24:1). But Satan held sway over thrones, wealth, and influence. Jesus refused the offer. But many did not.

The Sons of Cain – Then and Now

And here lies a deep and difficult truth. Today, the land once called Canaan has been renamed, rebranded, and resettledbut not fully redeemed. In a spiritual sense, the Sons of Cainthose who made the deal on the mountain—have reclaimed it under a name that deceives:

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil…”Isaiah 5:20

They have called it Israel”, but it is not the true Israel of God (Galatians 6:16). Instead, it has become a counterfeit—an earthly entity backed by spiritual impostors who made their pact long ago.

They have taken crafty counsel against Your people… saying, 'Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.’”Psalm 83:3–4

This is not an attack on any one nation or people, but a spiritual discernment of the times. What wears the name of God’s people may be ruled by anotheruntil the True King returns.

Jesus Will Conquer That Land Again

The war is not over. In fact, it is rising again.

Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle.”Zechariah 14:3

Jesus will return, and only He has the authority and the power to conquer that land once more. Not by man's sword or politics, but by the Word of God and His heavenly armies:

Out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron.”Revelation 19:15

The kingdoms that were offered to Him in temptation will be taken by force in righteousness.

The Depth of Deception

The modern-day Sons of Cain have dug deep into the world's systems: finance, media, government, religion, and technology. They took the deal with Satan, and in return, he gave them the kingdoms.

The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving…”2 Corinthians 4:4

But for those who see—those who are not deceivedGod gives a different promise:

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”Exodus 14:14

You are not powerless. If you belong to the Lord, He fights your battles, just as He fought for Abraham, Moses, and David.

From the Mountain to the Sea – From Death to Life

Jesus was baptized where death met water—the Dead Sea, the endpoint of a river that began in corruption. But prophets saw what would come:

And it shall come to pass… that the waters of the sea shall be healed.”Ezekiel 47:8–9

Life will return. Salt will purify. The earth will be renewed.

You Are the Salt of the Earth

Jesus said:

You are the salt of the earth… But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?”Matthew 5:13

Salt preserves. Salt purifies. Salt stings when placed on wounds—but it heals.

And you, redeemed by the One who rejected Satan’s offer and conquered the mountain, are the salt in a world descending into decay. You were born for this moment.

Final Word: As It Was in the Beginning...

What started at Mount Hermon will end at Mount Zion.
What began with fallen angels will conclude with the return of the King of Kings.
What was death will be turned into life.
And those who stood with Christ at the lowest place on earth will rise with Him to the highest.

Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him...”Revelation 1:7
