Fraud: A Modern Sin with Ancient Roots
By The Artist ONE
In today's world, fraud has become so common it's almost expected in high places. When lawmakers—those trusted with the weight of a nation's future—sign their names to policies, laws, and budgets they haven’t even read, they commit, in my eyes, not just political negligence but spiritual fraud. This isn’t just bad leadership. This is deception. And deception is sin.
What Is Fraud, Really?
Fraud is more than a white-collar crime or a dirty trick—it is a deliberate act of deception. Whether through words, actions, or silence, fraud aims to gain advantage through dishonest means. And make no mistake, God sees it all.
“A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.”
— Proverbs 11:1 (KJV)
The intentional act of misleading someone—especially when it causes harm or unjust gain—is not just unethical, it is unrighteous.
When Fraud Sits in the Seat of Power
One of the greatest betrayals of public trust is when those in power vote on policies they have not even read, knowing it affects the lives, freedoms, and finances of millions. That kind of leadership is not leadership—it’s deception disguised as governance.
“Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;”
— Isaiah 10:1 (KJV)
When a leader signs off on laws or deals without knowledge, discernment, or wisdom, what they do is not just void of diligence—it is void of righteousness. It's as if they have handed over the keys to the kingdom without checking who they’re giving it to.
In legal terms, such acts might be labeled “void ab initio”—invalid from the beginning. And spiritually? They are no less corrupt.
Fraud: A Sin with Many Faces
Fraud is not just in the high halls of government. It walks in boardrooms, behind computer screens, in hospitals, and even in religious institutions. The Bible speaks of many such deceptions:
1. Financial Fraud
From Ponzi schemes to shady investment plans, greed often fuels deceit.
“He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.”
— Proverbs 15:27 (KJV)
2. Consumer and Retail Fraud
Selling faulty goods, false advertising, or manipulating prices.
“Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.”
— Deuteronomy 25:13 (KJV)
3. Identity Theft
Stealing another’s name, social security, or personal info is not just illegal—it’s a sin.
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…”
— John 10:10 (KJV)
4. Elder Fraud
Scams targeting the vulnerable, especially the elderly, show the heartlessness of a godless society.
“Ye shall rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the Lord.”
— Leviticus 19:32 (KJV)
5. Healthcare Fraud
Lying for profit in an industry built to heal wounds—this is doubly corrupt.
“Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?”
— Jeremiah 8:22 (KJV)
God Will Judge All Fraud
Fraud may appear successful in the short term. Deceivers might climb ladders, acquire riches, even gain applause. But the final Judge has already declared His sentence.
“Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.”
— Proverbs 20:17 (KJV)
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
— Galatians 6:7 (KJV)
Every deception, every unread bill voted into law, every stolen penny, and every broken promise—all will come into the light.
A Call to Truth and Accountability
We are called to be people of integrity. Jesus Himself is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” As followers of Christ, we must stand against deception wherever it is found.
“Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.”
— 2 Corinthians 8:21 (KJV)
Let us hold not just individuals, but entire systems accountable. If something is built on lies, it will fall. Just like the Tower of Babel, built in pride and confusion, fraud always ends in collapse.
Final Thought: Fraud Destroys, but Truth Redeems
We are in a time where deception is dressed in designer suits, covered by legal jargon, and protected by powerful media. But as God sees, truth will outlast the lie, and righteousness will be restored.
Let our prayer be this:
“Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.”
— Psalm 5:8 (KJV)
Amen.
